Born in Venezuela from Portuguese immigrant descendants before arriving to New York City at the age of 18. At an early age, Raul knew two things: one he wanted to live in New York City and second, he wanted to express himself Artistically and creatively. This opportunity presented itself first through working in the fashion/beauty industry. Assisting at top salons in Manhattan, like Warren Tricomi and John Frieda in Madison Avenue. Raul cultivated the skills needed to move his way up the ladder. He was able to work with celebrities like: Nicole Kidman for the films: The interpreter and Cold Mountain. Working closely with Ms. Kidman lead stylist. This experience lead to more celebrities like Penelope Cruz, Mary Louise Parker, Famke Janssen, Iman, and Molly Shannon.
After mastering the skills of great hair design, Raul concentrated on furthering his knowledge of the business side of hair, fashion and beauty industry, in hopes of one day starting his own business. This dream came to fruition in 2004. Since then, he has continued his dream by branching out into photo shoots working side by side with fashion designers, stylists, and agents as well as notable photographers for print, film and editorial work.
In 2009 Raul was named Pantene’s spokesperson for the US Hispanic and Puerto Rico markets. staring in Youtube educational videos as well as TV shows, fashion shows, radio and print work. Like People en Español and Cosmopolitan. Raul also was invited to host pre-show awards in the red carpet for Premios Lo Nuestro for Univision and Telefutura networks. As a beauty and fashion advisor.
In 2011 Raul was hired by the prestige global beauty brand MOROCCANOIL as part of the Global Creative team. In this new role Raul traveled around the globe as an ambassador and educator for the brand. Teaching classes and making presentations in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Raul traveled to Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Canada and most of the United states. This new role consisted in Product knowledge, hair design and working closely with the marketing, product development, and sales departments.
This expanded his knowledge about the business aspect of the industry. Raul also was part of the creative team working behind the scenes in New York Fashion week for runway shows, with designers Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka, Catherine Malandrino, The Blonds, among many others. Raul also collaborated for the photo and video campaigns for Moroccanoil, working with top hairstylist and Photographers until December 2014.
In January 2015 Raul started a new role as Creative director and adviser to the industry , combining all his experience in hair, fashion, education, TV brand ambassador, photoshoots. fashion shows and product creation. Raul is able to listen to the client's team translating collective work into an image, creating an inner feeling and experience the lifestyle of the brand, always having a touch of timeless and classic into and updated version.
